Petoskey Stones
Regular price $6.00
Stones purchased will be selected at random(don't worry, we'll pick one of our favorites!) and come in a variety of shapes/patterns. All stones are roughly the same size. Stones are polished with one side featuring a glossy painted finish. All sales are final and stones cannot be exchanged.
This interesting stone is a variety of Calcite. It was formed by the fossilization of ancient coral, Hexagonaria. The coral lived in shallow waters and today's fossil often includes ancient silt and mud. Petoskey Stones are found on many beaches of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, as well as in rock quarries from Traverse City to Alpena. The honeycomb patterned stone is the official Michigan State Stone.
