Petoskey Stones – Michigan’s Natural Fossil Gem 🪨✨
Discover the beauty of Michigan’s official state stone—Petoskey stones! These stunning pieces are fossilized coral from over 350 million years ago, featuring a unique hexagonal pattern created by ancient rugose coral (Hexagonaria percarinata). Each stone is a one-of-a-kind treasure from natural history.
Carefully hand-selected and polished to highlight their intricate markings, Petoskey stones make perfect:
• Home decor 🏡
• Gifts or souvenirs 🎁
• Paperweights 📄
• Craft or jewelry projects 💍
No two stones are exactly alike! Choose your preferred size and let a piece of Michigan’s rich geological past add charm and history to your space.
Please note: Stones will be selected at random (but rest assured, only our favorites!), and come in various shapes and patterns. Each stone is roughly the same size, polished on one side with a glossy finish. All sales are final—stones cannot be exchanged.
Formed from calcite via fossilization of ancient coral that once thrived in shallow waters, Petoskey stones can be found along many beaches of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, as well as in rock quarries stretching from Traverse City to Alpena. This iconic honeycomb-patterned stone is truly a Michigan natural treasure! 🌊🦀
